About Baba G Herbal

Baba G Herbal is a family house in Sirohi, Rajasthan, making cow-based Ayurvedic preparations — bilona ghee, medicated ghrita, nasya oils, purified shilajit and chyawanprash. It began in 2013 as Babaji Vedic Bilone Ka Ghee, selling hand-churned ghee to people who already knew the family, and was formalised under the name Baba G Herbal on 10 May 2024 without changing how anything is made. Read the full story.

Everything is made at our own unit in Sirohi, in the shadow of Mount Abu at the foot of the Aravallis. Nothing is contract-manufactured, and every batch is filled, sealed and logged with a batch number and date. See the five stages we work through.

Yes. We hold FSSAI and AYUSH licences, and the numbers are printed in the bar at the top of every page on this site as well as on each jar. If you need a copy of a licence or a batch lab report for a specific order, ask us and we will send it.

Yes, we work with a small number of stockists and clinics. Get in touch with your requirement and the city you are in, and we will come back to you with terms.

The preparations

Bilona is the traditional method: indigenous cow milk is set into curd the same day it is drawn, the curd is churned by hand in a wooden bilona rather than separated by machine, and the resulting butter is slow-cooked into ghee in small batches. Most commercial ghee is made by heating cream directly, which is faster and cheaper. We use the bilona route because it is the method the classical texts describe, and it is what the house has always done.

Shodhana is the classical purification step. Raw shilajit is a resin that seeps from rock and arrives carrying mineral grit and plant matter, so it is not fit for use as collected. Ours is carried down from the Himalaya and then put through shodhana in small batches at our unit before it is filled. Purified shilajit should dissolve cleanly and leave no sediment.

A ghrita is a ghee-based preparation: herbs are decocted and then cooked into ghee until the classical purity test is met, so the ghee itself carries the herbs. We make several — Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Shatavari, Triphala, Kalyanak and others. See the full range.

Nasya karma is the classical practice of administering a medicated preparation through the nasal passage rather than by mouth. Our nasya ghritas — Brahmi, Tulsi, Shankhapushpi and Panchgavya — are prepared in the proportions given for that use. How and when to use nasya is something to settle with a qualified vaidya, not from a product page.

Panchgavya refers to the five substances derived from the cow that classical Ayurveda works with. Our Panchgavya Ghrit and Mahapanchagavya Ghritam are prepared on that basis, using milk from the indigenous herds around Sirohi.

No. The preparations are made from the ingredients listed on the jar and nothing else. Because there are no preservatives, keep the jar closed, dry and out of direct sun, and always use a clean dry spoon.

Choosing and using a preparation

Ask before you buy. Ayurvedic preparations are chosen for a person and a situation, not picked off a shelf, and the honest answer for most people is that it depends on things a website cannot know. Message our vaidya with what you are looking to address and we will point you to the right preparation — including telling you when the answer is none of them.

Follow the dose on the jar, and confirm it with a qualified Ayurvedic physician for your own case — particularly for the ghritas and for anything taken over a long period. We are not able to prescribe a dose over the internet.

Speak to your doctor first, and tell them exactly what you intend to take. This applies especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, managing a long-term condition, or due to have surgery. Nothing we sell is a substitute for medical advice or for treatment you have been prescribed.

Somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, with the lid closed and a clean dry spoon each time — moisture is what spoils a ghrita. The batch number and best-before date are printed on every jar; go by those rather than by a general rule.

Real ghee sets grainy or smooth depending on how quickly it cooled and how warm the room is, and the colour shifts a little from batch to batch with the season and the herd's feed. Neither is a fault. Smell is the reliable guide: if it smells sour or off, do not use it — send us the batch number and we will look into it.
